When Your Ethernet Cable Is the Real Problem

If a run feels warm to the touch, especially near a switch or patch panel, that's usually a sign of a wiring problem or a cable being pushed past what it's rated to handle for its length. A periodic check of network cabling, even something as simple as a visual look and a quick speed test at a few workstations, catches small problems before they become recurring complaints.
